The Salton Sea series brings together the dual disturbance of family and environment. The images, deliberately distressed utilizing text edit interference, are from my tongue-in-cheek video of a fictional down-at-the-heels family living at the Salton Sea. In the early 20th century, a plan to irrigate a dry lakebed in the Coachella Valley by diverting water from the Colorado River resulted in flooding, submerging the town of Salton, creating the Salton Sea. The damaged images reflect the displacement of family and destruction of the environment.
