In 2020 at the onset of Covid-19 I started traveling East. There was always more East of where I was, so I kept going; across the United States, across three oceans and 27 countries coming full circle back home to the Hawaiian Islands.

I resisted the isolation and chaos originating from conflicting information about the truth surrounding this viral contagion. I felt like I had been deposited onto the pages of a book of apocalyptic fiction. I moved to outdoor space to pursue the freedom from government lockdowns that included mandatory vaccines and mask mandates. People got ill and died, globally we suffered confinement, children did not get educated and we got older.

This work addresses the gift of returning to independent and unrestricted movement and thought. It explores not a theory of what if, it follows the reality of what actually happened. It was unthinkable and we were unable to speak out or challenge the information with a political system that did not communicate with us truthfully. It is a photographic journey throughout the world, with nary a person in sight.
